Enviably located on the banks of the Selinda Spillway in northern Botswana.
The camp enviably located on the banks of the Selinda Spillway in northern Botswana - offers horseback safaris, walking trails, boating, mekoro (water level dependent), canoeing (water level dependent), fishing and game drive experiences in one of the country’s most exquisite wildlife areas. It is a small, environmentally sustainable camp with 5 tented suites overlooking the spillway.
The camp was rebuilt in 2010, with the concept of environmental stability and stylish simplicity in mind. The main camp area takes advantage of the phenomenal location, overlooking the Selinda Spillway and all the wildlife activity it invites. Sited on the raised banks of the spillway, the five tented suites are positioned to enjoy the expansive views of this wild utopia. Each tent is elevated on wooden decking, and the canvas structures are airy, naturally and subtly decorated with classic wooden furnishings and comfortable furniture.
Each of the tents is spaced well apart and has a self-contained shower, loo, and large decked verandah. Beds can be configured for double or twin accommodation, while a family tent specifically accommodates for parents and children.
The neutral canvas tents, and deep wood flooring and decking keep the tones of the camp and rooms in a perfect balance with nature. The Honeymoon tent has an additional outdoor shower, adding an element of African romance.
RAW Botswana is an activity-based camp offering great flexibility to satisfy all guests’ choice of activity; including horseback safaris, walking trails, game drives, and bird watching in the inimitable Selinda Reserve. Mokoro cruises, canoeing, motorised boating safaris, and fishing activities are available when the water levels are satisfactory. Water activities cannot be guaranteed due to the erratic flow of the channel.
Riding safaris are fine-tuned and highly professional with specially acclimatised horses and guides. There are not more than 6 guests to a group, accompanied by a lead and back-up guide. Riding competency is a requirement, and riders must be older than 12.
Walking trails suit groups of 6 guests or less, and offers great opportunities for nature photography. This activity is about tracking, searching for wildlife, bird watching, detailed study of flora and fauna, and can be interspersed with fishing and swimming. Guides will tailor the walking trails to suit guests’ interests.
***Please note that water based activities are seasonal and dependent on water levels***
