The essential Okavango Delta experience

Footsteps camp is in a remote part of the Okavango Delta and home to two safaris. Firstly ‘Footsteps Across the Delta’ a walking safari and secondly ‘Young Explorers‘, a specialist family safari. Walking in the wilderness is the highlight of a true safari experience. No special training is required as the focus is on exploration and discovery – tracking fresh spoor each morning to reveal the night’s events. Guests will be in the hands of the best professional guides whose first passion is to interpret and bring to life every aspect of the bush. Other possible activities include game-drives, Mokoro or fishing trips, which vary throughout the year.

This back-to-basics, private camp accommodates six guests in three specially-designed twin-bedded Meru tents complete with sewn-in floors. One of the three tents can be converted into a family tent that sleeps three. Each tent has its own bucket shower and bush porcelain flush toilet, which is attached to the back of the tent and there is a daily laundry service. The ‘bush kitchen’ is run by our chef and prepares menus for all appetites.

From this wonderful base we are able to offer something very special – the opportunity to explore the wilderness on foot: to get up close and personal with the African bush. It’s not to be missed.

For those wishing to share the true African safari experience with their family, our Young Explorers family adventure is just for you. The Young Explorers package is a specially designed safari which offers families the opportunity to discover the wonders of the African wilderness together. One of the special attractions of this safari is its exclusivity.

A selection of activities are planned with the whole family in mind. Parents can enjoy some peace and quiet whilst our expertly trained Young Explorers guide entertains the children with a multitude of activities to suite all ages. Activities are designed to be both educational and inspiring, and the time spent at the Young Explorers camp is sure to leave a lasting impression and fond memories in the minds of all the family.
