Chobe National Park

Camp Linyanti should be visited by anyone passionate about raw Africa and favours safari quality over luxury accommodation. This uncrowded north-western corner of Chobe National Park is a water wonderland and appeals to visitors eager to get involved with boating activities, as well as game drives.

There is only accommodation for 10 people in rustic, ensuite tents, including one tent that is romantically kitted out for a honeymoon couple, so this is a camp for visitors who prefer privacy. Visit Camp Linyanti for an experience in remote Botswana, hosted by passionate, knowledgeable guides who will uncover the secrets of the Linyanti and show guests a never before seen side to this elephant paradise.

Far up in the north west of Botswana's Chobe National Park, in the Linyanti marshlands is one of Botswana's Hidden Secrets. Camp Linyanti is a charming, comfortable and authentic safari camp located in its own private area on the Linyanti River. This is a water-filled wilderness and Camp Linyanti focuses on the sheer beauty of this game-rich area. There are 5 individual Meru-style tents that sleep 2 people each, unless a 3rd bed is arranged uppon request. The main area of Camp Linyanti is all about the views with wide, wooden decks built overlooking the lagoons and waterways, all the way to the Caprivi Strip.

Children are welcome at Camp Linyanti making it a memorable family holiday location away from the crowds during peak season. It also appeals to couples and romantics, including those recently married, who will find a special solace in the honeymoon tent.

Guests are accommodated in individual canvas tents, that are unusually round in shape and include ensuite facilities and air-conditioning. Camp Linyanti, aside from the privacy and comfort of guests' individual rooms and viewing decks, offers a bar, lounge, and dining area in prime positioning for unending views all the way to Namibia. The main lodge has extensive wooden decks that overlook the bulging Linyanti River and the floodplains beyond it. Meals can be served on the deck for a dining experience with the birds and whatever animals happen to be passing by. Relax on comfortable couches and gaze at the endless horizon, or pick up a pair of binoculars and scan the water's edge for interesting birds and animals.

The Linyanti is famously known for its wild dog population and its lion population. A few years ago, before the Savuti Channel began to flow once again, the Linyanti and the Savuti were home to lions that were known to take down elephants. Today, it is more seldomly seen, but the lions still roam the territory in high numbers. Leopard, wild dog, and both brown and spotted hyena compete with lions for their prey. The cheetah - also endangered - is a smaller, yet superbly specialised predator, and a real treat to see.

The serval, and bat-eared fox fall into the small carnivore category at Camp Linyanti, but both can be seen on game drive.

Botswana Safari Company recommends Camp Linyanti for its raw simplicity of canvas fly-tents that offers more that the usual camping experience in the game ritch Linyanti region.
